Dani - Page Comic format

Finally began work on Dani as a printed/page comic format.

although for the time being, I think I'm going to stick to black and white for the moment because colours that would probably take too long.

Oh and not to mention trying out a new story introduction that cuts out a lot of the early talking parts.

I've been continuously working on Dani individual scenes such as examples at the top is what taking some time. The second part is done, later part going to where the beast hides for fights and what not.

More to come and if so fate willing, hopefully will finalize in apk format for download.

Dani - Syazwin 2

Can't think up of a proper title :P

Just wanted to post that I'm still working on this and it's coming. This is also just wanted to play around with another character I just recently finished.

Also just to add from my previous post, a generous friend of mine managed to turn this comic into a proper android app in apk format before. I installed it and it works... mostly. Of course, I doubt a lot would try but still, this is pretty fun for the most part.

The second part of the story is being done and while there is a few pages of action going on, I noticed that there's still just as much talking as the first part. I can only hope it can be just read through with ease and quickness because that's all there is to it in single panel pages comics like these.

I also notice there are A LOT of mobile app comics out there recently, I actually find it interesting. Still not sure how THIS will work out but still, am going to try finish at least one episode anyway.

Dani - Keep your head up

A supportive friend convinced me to continue working on this.Honestly, I haven't figured out what the outcome of this work could be but I thank you so much for helping.

This is a page recently done to continue doing the rest of Dani's comic. There's actually still a lot to go but I am enjoying it.

In the meantime, Here are some sketches for Dani's comic I did to study figure and expressions before I tried to switch to drawing common format pages for the comic.

Dani - halted.

After a long thought, I've decided to put Dani's comic on a hold. Reason being after failing to change the format to a usual comic format using what I had before, It just doesn't work. Look at previous post here, to understand what I'm referring to.

Putting it briefly for those who may have missed it, the comic was an attempt to make a mobile comic app. The format was 320x480 pixels and can only be read by scrolling down vertically, example would be one of those long meme or gag comics that you ought to find anywhere. I attempted to use a JRPG style because I thought it was a good idea at the time and since it's mostly repetitive images and easy to make.

It was accepted by the publishers but because of my current financial problems, I have to turn down their contract.

Still, I really loved working on Dani. It was a very fun work. It was one of those works that I didn't believe I could pull off actually.

And that work above is probably what I would've used as a cover. I decided to finish it because I really love working on this comic.

I waited for a while to see if the new comic format would do justice but after some feedback, it seems that it just doesn't work. Thus, the comic is currently scrapped.

The solution then was to basically redo it as a common page comic from scratch and that takes a very long time. So there'd probably be less updates by then unless if I have anything worthwhile to show.

Dani - New format

There had been trouble with the previous plan of publishing this mobile comic app I was working on which basically meaning it's not coming out as a mobile comic app. So I am trying to rework it. Problem is that I'm already half way done with this. So the solution is either to change format to make it work for common reading (like an ordinary 4 panel webcomic) or scrap all this and start a new from scratch.

The question is - Does it work?
Honestly, some parts look okay but the conversation part seems a bit confusing.

Therefore, I would like to ask, how does it look? is it comfortable? would you continue reading it in this format?

I am still not sure if it works or not. I will ask for opinions and see if it's comfortable for readers before continuing to finish it. If not, Dani's comic will end here and I will have to start again from scratch.

I'd like to ask for feedback on this so if ya'll have any thoughts on how to better this, let me know.

Dani - The Evil Lord's Palace and throne

I've completed a couple of last locations needed for completing the first part of Dani's comic so thought I'd share a bit of a preview after completing them before working on the pages for it.

This was what i could come up with for the Evil Lord's place to rule for the time being. Backgrounds and colouring is not exactly my forte so I think I might've missed something... possibly some sort of stereotypical evil vibe/atmosphere and consistency of some sort.

for the time being, i'm guessing this'll do. will work on it later.

Dani - the minion

This is the Evil Lord's minion. He will function as the Evil Lord's right hand man to hire lesser minions and other evil doers to take down Dani and his team from achieving their goals,

As for this week, I'm unable to do any proper pages as I amcurrently at home dealing with family problems. The problem has settled but I'll be here until the end of the week just to spend some time here for a while. Still, I was able to finish this needed character and can soon be able to do the actual pages once I get back.

Hopefully then, I will be able to show what I've come up so far. I hope you viewers won't be too disappointed with my first try that ends up with quite a longer introduction than expected or planned in one or two scenes for just the first part of the comic (lol). of course there will be some action on later parts but I dont want to get hopes up until I've actually done the pages myself.

also this minion is based on another traditional indonesian dancer known as Pajegan. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was some kind of shaman or healer.

Dani - The Evil Lord

While there is no comic for the time being as there is still a lot to be done, not to mention trying to fix a problem with it.

The biggest problem with the mobile app comic format that I've been working on is that it takes very little space, thus forced to elongate the length the comic to make a point, especially since each 'mobile 'page is one single PANEL. so for something that should've concluded in four pages, it becomes twenty 'mobile' pages... for more, well it becomes so many that I fear that one scene could've taken too long.

Thus, I have found my weakness in conveying short stories... again.

Still, I will put try to divide it to sub-parts and will try to upload them. I still want to see what the reception would be. If it's okay, then fine, if it's not, I will try to work on it but mostly, I will still try to finish what I started.

In the meantime, have a profile picture of the Evil Lord, the main antagonist that will constantly try to derail Dani's group from their goal and defeat them.

It is based on Jauk Keras, one of the traditional indonesian dances that represents a bad or boastful king.

Dani's Teacher, Rizal

Introducing Dani's teacher, mentor and master in smithing. His name is Rizal and Dani refers to him as "Cegu Rizal" (Teacher Rizal). He not only helps in Dani in becoming a great "Pandai Besi" (literally "expert in steel" meaning blacksmiths) but also grants him a powerful hilt that can craft weapons without using a forge.

the comic was actually done just for the purpose of figuring out how to work with it as well as finding any errors. So the comic might be a bit bumpy because there was a problem midway but I managed to get through it and finish anyhow.

Even so, this comic was done exclusively in malay as it was demanded that this comic to be done in malay first, not english. So for the time being, I'm afraid there won't be an english version. I apologize those who are non-malay readers, I hope you can at least enjoy it still.
