So I've just realized I haven't been updating my blog for quite some time. A lot of things happened after some time, attending minor local comic events, preparing stuff for CF, and some down time as well which made me forget a LOT of things I had been going on.

I also just started my instagram if that's something. Still trying to put up more stuff in it but still.

Other than that, things been smooth so far. Hopefully there'll be no trouble for this end year's event. Any locals out there, hope to see you in this year's Comic Fiesta!

Friend told me that I ought to do some sort of cutesy stuff for my work, so I did. Am going to do more of these for something planned in the future.

Just finally finished dialogues and afterword writing for both malay and english version for Dani. In other words, everything is ready, just need to send it out for printing.


Kinda odd to say but it does feel like I did the english version much better than the malay one. Almost makes me feel like I'd rather show the english one moreso than the malay one because for the most part, it just 'sounds' right (not to mention the actual content that I wished to convey in the dialogue is much clearer in english than in malay for some reason) even though I know that isn't always the case.


not to mention after going through the pages a second time for the second language version, I noticed a loooot of inconsistencies in both writing and visual simply because I did the comic in several different lengths of time throughout the year(a similar problem I had in my previous work) The improvement between the twentieth pages when compared to the first ten is just so jarring. In a way I hope no one notices even though I know they would.



Oh well. In any case we will see how this goes.

A concept in which I try to carry in Dani's work - multiculturalism. It is no easy feat but it is something I've always wanted to try since Liga Prajurit as well as Suvarnabumi. Hell, it was/is always has been one of the main themes of all those works. The only question is - how far can I go with it and I am hoping very much that I can.

Have to say, I had a lot of fun doing these pages.

And following with my previous discussion, after discussing it with my friends who recently read my test printed comic and gave their thoughts about it, I've decided to rewrite the introduction. It's a bit of a hassle but is no less a better improvement for the work I'm very sure.

Also I wanted to share that I've only discovered another manga/comic effect to better use in fight scenes like these. Although it is kinda awkward that I've only discovered this late because that means I might have to rework some of the earlier pages that consists of battle scenes to make them look at least a bit better.

Still, is a nice discovery, even though it's a very late one because this is a few pages before the fight is over.

In any case, I've started preparing and done proper dialogues for all the pages I've done for a test print this week. Not sure if anyone noticed but I skipped a whole part for this preview. The part before this one is a repetition of the introduction where Dani and his friends use their blacksmith powers.

Simply said, I'm trying out uhh... what do they call that writing technique thing?... repetition? no. The uh - "The introduction of the story was actually the middle/conflict of the whole story all along and everything's been ending up to this point kinda thing".

This can be done easily in animations/movies and whatnot by showing the exact same scene again but what about in comics? can I just reuse the pages I've done before or must I redraw everything different again to avoid copy pasting too obvious a solution?

Which is why I'm going to test print it first and try it on a few friends - see what their reactions are. If they are comfortable, then I'd say continue. If they notice "BRO WHY SAME PAGES HERE LAZY SHITE", then I might have to reconsider.

In any case, it's been quite a while since I've done this comic and it's nice to see how it's coming up. Hopefully to be done by end of the year's yearly comic event.

Update for this week. Not too much to share really but if there's one, I am actually still new to the use of these manga/comic effects. Not even sure which one to use where so I only used comics that I read to figure out how, when and where they put it as such. Haven't tried using screentones yet because wasn't sure if it fits in this purely black and white pages because otherwise, I will have to start properly draw greyscale shadows on the characters. It is much more proper visually but that also means more time-consuming that I am not yet prepared.

All in all, after raya, I've been more active in continuing this work and progress has been smooth so far.

Dani Progress Update!

Been doing these on and off between work and weekends. It's going pretty slowly but smoothly.

But anyway, next few days is holidays so wanted to at least finish this part before the coming holidays to start working on the next part. In any case, happy holidays and raya to all the muslim viewers out there!

A recent problem

Just wanted to inform here that just yesterday my laptop just got stolen.

I didn't have backup because I never thought it could happen, silly me. My only backup is just a handful few left in my desktop pc at home and any that's been uploaded in the blog so far, in which case, I think should be all of them, in jpeg. Hopefully should be enough for now.

That's all I can say really. Just an unlucky day really.

Good day! As always, a preview of my current progress,

This one has been taking a while because 1) realized i got lazy doing backgrounds again so I had to punch it up a notch again and 2) i got addicted playing the witcher 3 :C isssooo goood
