Prologue Art Exhibition

In all likelihood, the name Intuitive Art Group is one that will not ring any bells. The six young artists who make up this collective are final year Fine Art students, and this is the first time they are exhibiting as a group. But don’t let their youth be a deterrence.
Each with a unique talent and vision, the Intuitive Art Group consists of six very talented individuals:Azimuddin Abd Manaf (who participated in Emergence last year), Mohd Hanif HafizNik Mohd HazriNur Fiqah Mohd QariZaimuddin Aziz, and Zharif Hazwan Badrudin.
Every journey has a beginning, and Prologue marks the start of what we think will be a very productive journey for these six artists, as they embark on their respective art careers.
The exhibition will run from April 6 to 302013 at our gallery, and will officially open at6:30pm, on SaturdayApril 6. We are quite honored that En. Rahman Amin, a lecturer at UiTM’s Faculty of Art and Design, has agreed to be the guest of honor for the opening. Rahman Amin, himself an artist, is known for his mild steel sculptural works, based on Kufic script renditions of the words “Allah” and “Muhammad”. He has participated in a number of exhibitions in recent years, his most recent participation being the Urban Art 2 exhibition held at Pelita Hati Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, earlier this year.
Collectively, the works from the six artists are an “honest, bold and true expression”, as described by Rahman, who is also one of the lecturers that the artists have studied with. While fairly basic artistic methods are used, the artists manage to take their works to a higher level, giving us a view into how they see the world that surrounds them.
As a debut exhibition, it is also noteworthy that the Intuitive Art Group has taken a bold initiative to hold their exhibition outside the comfort zone of their academic institution. This is certainly something exemplary, demonstrating the daring spirit of these young artists, something they will need to face the many challenges in the future.
Prologue is Artemis Art’s second group exhibition for 2013, and has been selected to be one of the exhibitions included in the National Visual Arts Gallery “Satu Pameran Untuk Semua” (One Exhibition for All) catalog project. We hope that you will be able to attend the exhibition during its run, and help support young art, by young artists yearning to find their place in the Malaysian art scene.

Given the green light

Last week, my airship/alternate history painting concept project has been given an approval by my lecturers. All that's left is to execute it in 6-8 paintings in under 10 weeks and to make sure the concept can be received clearly in the next presentations and such.

Here are a few sketches and final drawings done during the week after the approved presentation last week;

Final Semester's sketches

I actually planned to upload these sketches after IF they have been confirmed usable.. But then again, if they do fail to be approved by the lecturers, then I thought, this could probably still work as personal work sketches.

Plus I needed to update the blog with something worth noting. (Apologies for not being able to update as often.)

I'll explain more on this project AFTER I've confirmed that it can be proceeded by my lecturers. Until then, basically it's about development of ideas from starting of as works of 'appreciation of local history' into 'WHAT IF... ' scenarios.

1st development,

2nd development,

Stay tuned!

PS: for excellent Jawi-readers, if you notice in the second work in the 2nd development part, the whole diagram is written in Jawi.. I reckon some words might need revising as my Jawi itself is getting rusty, so I ask for anyone that could, if you found any errors or misspellings, please do let me know. Please and thank you!

Unrelated Sketches

Perhaps I should do a separate blog? but then again, I've been updating more than just Liga comics here anyway. I really hope y'all don't mind.

Apologies for the lack of Liga Prajurit comic updates but since classes have started and such, been busy with something else for the moment.

but I do have a bit of free time here and there, not to mention with only three days a week classes only.

SO anyway, I've been working on something different recently, taking a bit of a break from doing Liga comics. It's basically about airships and sea ships battling each other among other stuff but we'll get to that later.

For now, I did a few sketches that have been quite a while that were stuck in the head so I just had to let it all out.

I love how everything works so far but have been trying to figure out the kinks and if anything make sense or not.

Here are some of the sketches,

Probably more later.

See ya's!
