Closing a chapter, opening a new one

I just realized I haven't updated on the degree show I was in.

So just yesterday, was officially the end of my degree studies. There was a degree show showcasing our works and it went well enough. Couldn't be happier. Although now opens a new chapter in life in the real world. I am both excited and anxious but regardless of what the unknown future that could hold, I must and will always remember the will to learn. As my friend told me, little steps towards my goal.

As for now, I will post pics and works done for my final year degree.

Through these works, I try to reiimagine history what happens if the Nusantara was never colonized; a utopia. Due to the limitation of time, I limit the subject through the exploration of fictional, futuristic past air ships.

What I'm trying to share is not just the wicked designs but my inspiration towards the subject of history. Although the very core of why I created these works was that I wished to find ways to take it in the form of fantastic art or in other words, fantasy/sci-fi approach. Being more specific, the Hayao Miyazaki approach.

Miyazaki's combination of both local culture and contemporary fantastic art approach has influenced me greatly in making these works not only in terms of visual but also intellectually. It is that sort of balance that I've been trying to find so that a wide audience could enjoy but still haven't found yet.

And because of that, I intend to continue this project as a second comic in the future. During the whole course of creating these paintings, I've already finished drafting the main storyline, characters, locations and designs. All that's left is executing it.

Painting bros,

I would also like this opportunity to thank my dudes and dudettes, from every department (too many to list down - sorry gents and ladies!), in not only helping me in realizing these works but also maturing me in becoming a better painter as well as a better person because I would not have made it this far without their help.

That also goes for my lecturers and seniors who have lended a hand despite of how busy this semester was.. and believe me, this semester was chaotic. ;) and not to mention my parents and family who have supported me in pursuing my goals.

Thank you.
